Frontline Support is our inter-tribal outreach effort that provides support in prayer, ceremony, music, film, and direct-action organization for communities that are facing the consequences of colonialism.
Through these actions we are able to preserve our indigenous life ways by ensuring we protect our land and traditional knowledge. We have been able to reach communities across Turtle Island from Alaska to Hawaii. We have provided frontline/demonstration support and prayers with our indigenous brothers and sisters facing injustices caused by environmental racism.
Indigenous Lifeways was founded in 1987 as the Southwest Indigenous Uranium Forum, an organization rooted in climate justice to fight the impacts of nuclear contamination and extractive development. Over the past 39 years, our organization has focused on protecting sacred water sources from oil and gas waste; advancing energy justice through community-controlled renewable energy; facilitating international Indigenous climate knowledge exchanges with the Ring of Fire Cohort; and strengthening traditional ecological knowledge through land-based practices, ceremonies, and ancestral Indigenous knowledge systems. We also engage in anti-extractive industry organizing against extractive and polluting industries.
