XR and Film Making
Indigenous Lifeways is already engaged in the XR community. In January 2024 and 2025, we co-hosted a sold-out workshop at MIT's Reality Hack titled "Social Impact & Economic Equality Through XR: Empathetic Storytelling." This introduced a Diné-focused approach to social impact storytelling using immersive technology.

Indigenous Lifeways received Meta Quest headsets through our partnership with Virtual World Society and Agog, and our team has trained in 360° video production and XR curriculum development

In 2026, Indigenous Lifeways launched our short film – Speaking With Our Heart – a 360-degree piece that celebrates our culture, land, and people. It serves as a heartfelt reminder to reconnect with and uphold our cultural and traditional identities, especially at a time when the Diné language and teachings are at a critical risk. With projections estimating that only 10% of Diné people will be fluent in the language by 2030, the urgency to protect what remains and to pass it on has never been greater. ​Our youth interns not only starred in the film but they also wrote, directed and edited this masterpiece!

We Need Support
​
We believe that advancing our efforts requires support from the Navajo Nation Film Tour and National Screenings. Additionally, we need backing from local museums and cultural spaces.
Our organization also needs equipment to access the internet in remote areas and must develop a toolkit along with a media campaign to help Diné learn the language and perform ceremonies.
